Tiramisu
The teacher called ten minutes after it was supposed to start. My excuse was that I've been sick all week and fell asleep, which was true. Still, I feel rotten about it. I used to never forget anything, and I was always on time. I think I have too much going on to keep everything straight even when I'm not sick. Mrs Mungo
Do you have a phone with alarms? I have a planner similar to this and I set alarms on my phone. And I've missed things, even then. I missed ds's last dental cleaning because everyone had the stomach flu (including me), and I forgot to call. Oops. The receptionist called and started to yell at me, but I hung up on her, lol. bettyandbob
BTDT it's a bummer. Here's what I do now. I have all appointments, even regular ones in my outlook calendar. My outlook calendar syncs with my (not smart) phone. My phone beeps 15 mins before any appointment. If I'm on the computer, that will beep too. I'm better now (perhaps less harried), but that little alarm saved me a couple of times -- we did run out of the house really fast and might have gotten to practice or whatever a couple minutes late, but we made it. I also print the week's calendar and post it on the refridgerator. I'm trying get dh in the habit of checking it regularly.
shanvan
At least you had a good reason. I missed Ds's dental appoint a few years ago b/c we were out hiking with a friend. I had it on the calendar and everything. I came home to find a message letting me know we were late, and then one saying we had completely missed the appointment. They were very nice about it. Hilltop
I have also started setting alarms on my cell phone (I don't have a smartphone to link with my calendar). I also have a kitchen timer that I wear around my neck when I need to remember to do something in x number of minutes. I hope you feel better soon! Forget-Me-Not
I did that with piano once when I was early in a pregnancy (forgetfulness has been a symptom every time!). The teacher was really sweet about it and said she knew it wasn't my usual M.O. I too use my smartphone to set alarms now. Feel better! PinkInTheBlue
I got our older boys to their 5 - 5:30 voice lesson this past Tuesday at 5:30 on the dot. I was mortified. I work pretty hard to make sure they aren't late for the many things we do but really bombed that one. :) Fortunately the teacher was able to do a second class immediately after for my 2 and another that was late. I apologized and begged forgiveness. It was our very first class with her. Mortified!
MamaAkins
It happens...and at least you had a legitimate reason. On the other hand, maybe this is your opportunity to see that you have too much on your plate and it might be time to pare down your commitments. Last year, I got a speeding ticket (my first in 17 years of driving). It brought to my attention the fact that I was overbooked, constantly feeling rushed. I have since learned to be more careful about making commitments and have slowed down (both in driving and "rushing" everywhere). In other words, I've learned to :chillpill:.
