walkinlegends Posted August 1, 2012 Share Posted August 1, 2012 So I'm trying to put together our 1st grade schedule and curriculum based on TWTM. I've got two separate subjects, "Reading" and "History" (with the 3-ring notebooks for each), but am confused about the overlap between them. We'll be doing Ancients for history, reading lots of library books, doing some narration pages, etc. But for reading, it seems like the same thing. We'll be reading Greek myths, etc, doing narration pages. How are these not the same subject, and will we find enough material to read over the course of the year? thescrappyhomeschooler Posted August 1, 2012 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Well, if your first grader is already reading fluently, than you can easily combine history and reading. That's what I do. I think reading would be considered a separate subject if you were teaching phonics and the like. I think you'll be able to find plenty of reading material for the ancients!
