I keep forgetting to tell my doc. that does accupuncture about my hands. Anyway, does anyone else experience pain in their finger joints? This has been going on for a few months now, and I'm only 38! When I reach in the washing machine to grip clothing is when I notice it the most. I think it has gotten a wee bit worse. Anyone have this experience and have a good answer?

Yep. I have joint pain. I notice my thumb the most. I'm 43, but the dermatologist casually mentioned the arthritis in my hands...I guess she could tell from looking!! :001_huh:

There are many possible reasons for finger joint pain. One that I am familiar with is nerve subluxation (compression) in the spinal chord. In my case, I have scoliosis and bone spurs in my spine. When things go a little out of whack one thing that happens to me is that I get stiffness in my index finger joints. You might have a chiropractor take a look at you.

You might check this out - I get finger/hand pain occasionally (some carpal tunnel type symptoms, too), and trigger point therapy has helped a lot. I bought the book and highly recommend it.

Thanks for the book suggestion.

Unfortunately I'm already taking a really good fish oil supplement...it took a great amount of inflamation from my knee. I also regularly see my chiropracter...I guess that's why I'm a bit worried about feeling this...because I thought I was doing things to prevent this kind of chronic pain. Oh, and I try to see an accupuncturist once a month or so.

Thank you for your ideas, hopefully I'll get a few more tips this evening :)

A good chiropractor can feel what is wrong with you BUT they are not omniscient. If he/she knows you are having this specific symptom, that person can then specifically evaluate for possible causes.

If it is subluxation your chiro can probably help. If he/she is unable to help, you might check into a different diagnosis like arthritis. HTH

I notice that when mine is acting up, high dose of vitamin C helps. I use those Emergen-C packs and one pack (which is 1000mg of vit C) helps clear it up. Plus when I'm drinking my Kombucha tea, I don't have the symptoms at all. KT is a great thing for a long list of ailments. I'm only 40 and I noticed my finger joints hurting after my chiropractor popped my knuckles and finger joints. I had never done that ever because my mom (a piano teacher) told me that if you pop your knuckles you'll get arthritis. Old wives tale???? I wonder....

I had it and, sometimes, if I bumped my fingers the pain was tremendous. I thought it was arthritis, but it turned out to be my thyroid! After being on medication, the pain went away and the knobby look on my fingers disappeared.

My dental hygienist has arthritis, she swears by heat therapy. She uses a heating pad, or holds her hand under a halogen lamp (I don't know about that)

I thought I had inherited the family arthritis from my mother's side. Definite joint pain in the hands. I was starting to drop stuff on a regular basis and couldn't open jars anymore. I tried the arthritis supplements. No help. I read an article linking artificial sugars to joint pain. No more artificial sugar. Joint pain gone.
