Shredded chicken ---> taco filling question

Recommended Posts

Well, what do they have on them already? I mean, how were they cooked originally?

I'd think adding some cumin and chili powder would be a good start. Onion powder, garlic, crushed red pepper if you want it spicy.

Or you could use taco sauce or salsa.

I've used packaged chicken taco seasoning that was yummy, but if you are rushed, I've made really good tasting chicken tacos by shredding the meat and mixing with salsa, and seasoning with a bit of cumin, chili powder, garlic, and a squeeze of lime juice. I'll be right over. :D

mild salsa and taco seasoning. my home-made taco seasoning is:

1 teaspoon potato starch

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon paprika

3/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/4 teaspoon cayenne (i use a double-dash)

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon sugar

1/8 teaspoon pepper

and a half cup water- you can skip the starch and the water if you are also using salsa

Thank you! I'm already making ground beef tacos, but that didn't sound good to me for tonight. Everyone else can eat that; I'm making the chicken for me! I used several of the suggestions, and I'm sure it will be wonderful--the lime will be the perfect touch, along with cumin and garlic, I think.
