I have AP to use when we start school in the fall, but I have a couple of questions.

The program looks great, I am wondering about the paintings though. Would it be beneficial to find art books with larger represenatations of those paintings? I know the quality would be better, I just can't decide if I am making a mountain out of a mole hill and creating unnecessary work, or if it truly would be helpful for them to see the better copies to engage with the artwork.

Second question is easier, how long does it take to do a lesson? Do you split it into days or do it all in one day?

Thanks!

PS A dumb question - how do I add one of the tags to my messages that tells about who we are?

1) Would having bigger pictures be helpful?

I'm sure it might be nice, but around here I would rank it as not worth the work. We are using AP books 1 and 2 with a 2nd and Pre who are now starting 3rd and K. We do look at the pictures, but don't spend a long time analyzing them and what is provided seems sufficient to me for this age. The girls usually want to get to the project.

2) How long for a lesson?

Definitely done in one day here. Again, maybe if they were older they would spend more time on projects, but they tend to finish up pretty quickly. Last year I tried to schedule one lesson per week, but art tends to get dropped when we're going full speed on everything else. So now I'm trying to do a lot more during the summer so it won't matter so much if we have to drop it once in awhile.

3) How to add personal info to posts?

Click on User Control Panel in upper left corner. Go to Edit Signature. You can try writing what you want, change font size, colors, etc, then preview it to see if that's what you want before saving it.

I agree. The pictures are good enough for the lessons in the book. The lessons teach the kids to really look at the picture to see what is happening. Instead of investing in additional art cards, I would take the kids to the art museum and ask the same types of questions about the art there. Perhaps you can even find some of the same artists.

We did each lesson in one day, usually doing one lesson a week.

I used the hs level with my son. You could probably just pull up some art pieces on the internet. Of course, the library is sure to have some really nice books. I wouldn't invest in any additional art books unless your child really has a thing for art.

We did about one lesson every week.
