Disney Resort Question

Recommended Posts

We are a family of six going to meet one set of grandparents at Disney in March. So, there will be 8 people total.

What is the best resort to stay in? We don't have to be all in the same room but we need to be close. Grandparents are able to keep two kids in their room.

I know the value resort will work but my concern is there will be no place to unwind.

My mom seems to think two standard rooms will be enough. Reasoning that we'll only be sleeping there.

I think at least one suite would be nice. Just a place to play games, lounge and rest. Dad has a very bad back and knees. I imagine he's not going to hang with us all day. I'm also hoping to get some date time with DH or with individual kiddos while the others might enjoy some downtime at the resort.

Any suggestions?

The Caribbean is nice, but very large. When my mom and Aunt came with us we stayed at the French Quarter. It is one of the smaller resorts, but it is very closely linked to a larger resort. The bus service was great. The rooms were large and it had been updated much more recently that the Caribbean. We had adjoining rooms. The pool was also less crowded but still nice at the french quarter.

We liked it, as we were at the parks all day which was all kid orientated, it was nice to come back to a quieter "adult" resort.

You'll get the best bang for your buck by staying anywhere BUT at a Disney hotel/resort. We found a huge 6-bedroom townhouse/condo less than 5 minutes away for about 1/2 the cost of just ONE ROOM at a Disney Resort. Everyone had their own bedroom, there was a huge kitchen, a great pool, and free transportation to all the parks.

Disney "Resort"? Is that Disneyland or Disney World?

Sorry! Disney World :)

Would you mind giving me the resort name? The main reason we'd want to stay in Disney is because we'd be flying and don't want to rent a car. Also, if someone wanted to go back to the room early it seems like it'd be easier if we were staying at Disney. But I'd like to check out other options.

That depends on how much you're willing to spend on a room per night. If you have a budget....I can work with that. :D

We have plenty budgeted for this vacation so we're more worried about convenience rather than price for this trip. Obviously, I want to spend as little as possible but I don't want stay at a resort that is known to be noisy or have transportation issues, ect.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I'm going to check them all out.

We have never stayed a value resort, but the new Art of Animation one does look nice. We stayed at Caribean Beach with the grandparents and had adjoining rooms and that was great :)

The CBR is our favorite resort and we've stayed there several times. We've done more than one room and it's been fine, but we do the parks all day, so it wasn't a big deal about having a place to play games or whatever. My mom and step-dad did go back to the resort once because they were tired and hung out on the beach area or at the pool, which is Indy thinks is "amazing." The rooms don't really have places to kick back unless you want to lay around on the bed.

I'm not a big fan of the value resorts because they are used by groups and can be very, very loud. I value my sleep and sanity. I do like the looks of AoA, but don't know that I'd want to stay in a value again, especially with this one being brand new and everyone wanting to stay there.

I suppose this all depends on perspective. We would NEVER stay off site because the convenience of being on property is worth a ton to us.
