busymama7
I think the title says it all. We do very few vaxes and none as babies but my 12 year old got a Tdap last Friday and has a nasty cough today. Is it possible to come down with pertussis from the vax? I know it is for some diseases it is but I can't find any answers in google for this one. Thanks! ktgrok
no, the A in the vaccine name stands for "acellular" meaning it doesn't even have the whole virus cell.
Lady Florida.
No, it's an inactivated vaccine, meaning it does not contain live virus. The "ap" stands for acellular pertussis, acellular meaning it does not contain any cells. I believe there's a nasal spray similar to the flu shot that does contain a small amount of live virus, but the shot doesn't.
momto10blessings
no, and she would not have the cough now if she just got the shot last week. it takes a couple weeks (i think, can't remember now) before you show symptoms and the it begins as a mild cold. after a few days the cough starts.
