love2read Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I'm considering using it for a 12th grade who needs to brush up on writing research reports and a 6th grader. I'm thinking about just one course each to break up their year. Quote
Melissa in CA Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 My 11 grader did a semester course this past year and really liked it. The teacher was encouraging and my son wrote some very creative papers...all without...yep, that's right...WITHOUT...my help! :w00t: Needless to say, Mama was verrrry happy. :D Quote
tinag Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 My dc have never done a writeathome class, although I have read on the old boards that several people were pleased with their kids progress in the classes. We have used home2teach and have been pleased with the classes. The teachers are great and my dc have learned a lot. Quote
MicheleinMN Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 My high school students have both taken the Composition 1 class. Oldest ds has taken Composition 2 also. All three classes (2 different Comp. 1 classes) were 1 semester. I love the set up. My dc get feedback and help editing their work. The classes were definitely more helpful to my ds who is a very inventive creative writer, but has horrible spelling/grammar skills. Dd is a more careful writer, so there was less feedback for her work. Dd is also taking the Essay I workshop this summer. It has been great so far. Feedback on both style and content has been excellent. I am not a writer, so http://www.writeathome.com is great for our family. And I love having the option of them taking a semester class instead of only all year. HTH, Michele Quote
