AimeeM
Autumn is a rising 6th grader. I'm realizing that she is great at spouting off formulas, but not retaining much. She does have working memory issues, but I want her to have a more conceptual base for math than she currently does. So we're going with Singapore Math 5. It looks like it will be a review of concepts she already covered in her previous curriculum, but I need her to UNDERSTAND and retain the information. If she's a bit behind the others when she enters the brick and mortar Catholic school (either mid-year this year, in sixth grade, or at the start of the next year), so be it. The home instructor's guide appears (from the samples) to give instructions on how to present material if your child hasn't used earlier levels of singapore math. *yes, it hurt to say that* :tongue_smilie:
wapiti
Good for you! I think it's a good choice!! And I wouldn't worry about the level. My understanding is that a lot of 6 is sort of a preview of prealgebra anyway, so I bet she'll do fine when she goes to B&M school after 5. Joani
I think you made the right choice. My oldest came out of public school after 5th and finished Singapore 5A-6B in about a year and loved it. Good luck!
