Haupia
How old do your kids need to be to be involved in 4 H? I tried looking on our Texas 4 H page. I saw the cooking section had to be at least in 7 th grade. Is it the same across the board? thanks
dirty ethel rackham
Around here, one must be 8 to be a member of 4H. Younger children can be Cloverbuds. Is the cooking thing a special interest club? They might be setting an age limit based upon the skill levels they will be covering and the level of supervision. My daughter has been in the cooking project since she started at age 8. Pippen
I'm really surprised that they've set cooking at 7th grade--that's much older than I've ever heard before. What I saw here sounds more like it: http://agrilife.org/d84h/files/2010/09/4-H_Age_Calculator_10-11_Year1.pdf I wouldn't go on what a website says. I'd call the extension office in your county. bettyandbob
5-8 cloverbuds 9 4H Perhaps the age was related to the specific activity. There's a local veterinary interest club that requires high school age here. This is due to the type of things the club members are doing--a certain maturity is expected. Cinder
I have no idea--we're not in 4H. Just wanted to say hi and that you chose a fun board name! (Though I personally don't care for real haupia--I've just never liked coconut.) ;)
Kathryn
Clover buds start at five here, then regular 4H at 8 or 9.
Sparkle
Regular 4-H is 9& up, Cloverbuds are 5-8. Our club also allows younger siblings to participate. We call the 2-5yos Cloverpals and they can be in some projects with the Cloverbuds if they have parental supervision. We do have some projects that are teens only, because they involve more advanced skills.
lovinmomma
Here the age is 7 and cloverbuds are younger.

lovinmomma
Here the age is 7 and cloverbuds are younger. And the only reason that I know this is because I happened to check out 4H in our new home area yesterday. :D
