Female content (tmi): Progesterone cream users

Recommended Posts

I started using the cream this month. During the month, great results. More energy, no pms symptoms, less fuzzy headed, etc. Now that my cycles started, a different story. Wicked awful cramps, some nausea, heavier flow, etc. Also, the past few cycles have been getting shorter. This one actually went 4 weeks! (or close to it -- maybe 27 days) I have no other months with which to compare yet. Is there an adjustment period with this stuff for your cycles? Does this mean I need to tweak the amount I used? Can anyone with experience advise me here?

I can't offer any help. I am basically hopping onboard to see any replies you get since I had a similar experience. ;)

I started Progesterone and had a very WILD cycle and so I stopped. I use to use it with no problems whatsoever though, but I ran out and did not buy any for about 6 months. My wild cycle happened the first month I tried it again.

Does anyone know on what day of your cycle you are supposed to start and stop the creme? I am wondering if perhaps I had my timing waaaay off. :001_huh:

:grouphug: No help but I'm sending hugs, chocolate, a tray of cheese and crackers and a glass of red wine.

There are a number of days when I'm thinking...I really need that cream. And those are the days dh is thinking....Who is this crazy woman??? However, I'm chicken and hoping to just pass through pre-menopause with my family and sanity in tact.

My dr had me do a saliva test to get my readings. I was very low on progesterone and testosterone. They sent my results to a pharmacist to have my progesterone cream compounded per my results.

I am supposed to take mine the first day of each period and continue for 25 days then stop. My period should start within a couple days.

My periods had been coming every 21 days, which I thought was normal considering my age...43. She said absolutely not, that I should be having a period every 28 days and that we need to get my periods back where they need to be. I've only used it one month (starting my 2nd) and it definitely stretched out my cycle days....it went to 31 days this time!! I actually thought I was going to explode! I was more irritable than ever.

The only thing I have noticed is that it makes me extremely sleepy so I have to take it at bedtime. If I wait too late, I feel very tired in the morning. But I sleep all through the night now, which is good. I will say it has done nothing for the libido factor....that and the fact that I fall asleep SO FAST now!!

I am going to give it time to do its magic, though. She said it could take several months.

Supposedly it's supposed to be a factor in my struggle to lose weight. We'll see about all that......

But, I am to use 1 mg on days 1-10 of my cycle (starting the day that I start.) The rest of the cycle, I am to use 2 mg. Since I do have a fairly regular cycle, she has me just go by that.

A friend(uses the same doctor) that often skips cycles, is supposed to stop on a certain day to try to force her cycle to come.

Oh My! I could have written this post! I too am 43 yo and my periods come every 21 days...and lately sometimes even less! It's been quite frustrating. So you are to use it from days 1-25? I don't have a prescription, but perhaps I will try that with the natural progesterone I do have.

I started using this three months ago because of heavy I'm going to bleed to death flow, painful cramps, and short cycles.

After the first month, all of those symptoms disappeared.

I use it from day 14 to the first day of my cycle.

How much are you using?

I don't really measure, just squirt some on my palm, but I know I have erred on the side of too much in the past, so maybe you're not using enough?

I also rotate areas I apply it on: breasts, inner thighs, face and neck, abdomen.

And be careful not to put anything on right before or after, like lotions.

Hope that helps, I've come to rely on this stuff!

I use it from day 12 to day 26. I was told that there could be an adjustment period of a few months, but it actually started working immediately for me. I went from having a mess that looked like my guts were coming out every month, to nice, normal liquid flow. Mine says to use a quarter tsp. twice a day. I don't measure, but just use a little glop, and rotate where I put it.
