My new Speed Queen washer and dryer are being delivered tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

I am ridiculously happy. :001_smile: Actually, I think I am mostly happy about getting rid of my crappy front loader - worst purchase I ever made.

Thanks to whoever pointed out Speed Queens in the first place. The store manager at the appliance place said they were becoming very popular, and had kind of a "cult following" :D He said a lot of people were tired of the front loaders not performing well and wanted to go back to something basic that actually gets clothes clean. He had the ones I wanted in stock and they will be here tomorrow *happy dance*

If you're looking for an "old-fashioned" washing machine with a electromechanical dial that does exactly what you tell it to do, you've made the right choice. We've had one for a couple years now, and it's great.

It makes no judgements or decisions. It just washes clothes exactly as you ask it to do. On top of that, they're still made in the USA.

I just finished folding the first load. The clothes are definitely cleaner and smell fresher than with my old washer. I also like how I can adjust the temperature of the water as it's filling. The clothes weren't all tangled up after the final spin either. They are louder than my old machines, but it's not much of an issue since they're in a separate room and I can keep the door shut. So far, so good!

How much do these cost? And which model do you guys like? We may be in the market for a washer/dryer soon....

I paid $700 for the lowest end washer, and $750 for the mid-level gas dryer. I could probably have paid a little less by buying online, but I decided to go with the local store since I know they have good service, and they were able to deliver, install, and take away the old machines very cheaply, plus they had the ones I wanted in stock.

Thank you! Super helpful, I am going to go try and see one this weekend.
