itsheresomewhere
I am asking on behalf a very good friend. Her kids have gotten older and she has been thinking about becoming a midwife for about 3 years. She would like a good online program to get started. Just the basics until it is time for her to get out and do it. Thanks in advance

jennsmile
It will depend on her state and type of midwife she wants to be. In Texas we have documented midwives and there is a program set up for them. Other places might require her to be a certified nurse midwife. I know lots of people that are doula's first and then branch out to become midwives. It gives them experience working around laboring women and some experience as well as they see how different things are handled by the medical care provider. Flowing Brook
I am working on becoming a CPM. I am apprenticing with another midwife and just reading good midwife books. The schools I found don't really seem to offer anything I could not get on my own. Here is a link to a school that some say is pretty good. http://www.traditionalmidwife.com/index.html
