readinmom Posted July 13, 2012 Share Posted July 13, 2012 I signed ds15 up for the program this week after some long deliberations. K12 was a bust for us. It wasn't the program itself, but the cyber school running it. Ds is missing two electives which were dropped from his schedule due to "no teacher available". K12 did nothing to help us except to suggest that we pay for the missing classes and take them during the summer. I feel like I wasted my son's 9th grade year. We need affordability and accountability, which AS provides. I know that he will do better focusing on a few subjects at a time. Mona100 Posted July 13, 2012 Share Posted July 13, 2012 So far, so good with our experience with American School. We started in mid May. My daughter has done really well with the schoolwork and tests. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the grades (100-94 A...93 is a B.) The teachers who grade the tests send it back with comments and encouragements. Also, my daughter and I are not arguing about school stuff and that has been wonderful. We are up to taking 3 subjects a day and we almost done with the very first class (Psychology). Wish I had done this sooner but better late than never.
