SquirrellyMama
My kids and I are meeting my brother and his family. It has been 21 years since I've seen him. I was 16 at the time. We are so different and I'm nervous to meet his beautiful wife. I probably shouldn't be drinking coffee right now. Kelly
Chris in VA
Was there strife between you? (I don't need to know, I'm just showing you how I'm thinking.) That would make it more difficult. I hope it's a reconciliatory meeting--a fresh start, if you will, if there was some sort of falling out. Restoration is always a blessing, even if things don't get to the rosy-cosy stage. Forgiveness is always beneficial.
Guest
Wow. That you're nervous is unsurprising. I hope the meeting can be mutually beneficial and give all parties fulfillment and forgiveness if that is needed. :grouphug: P.S. decaf would be better ;)
SquirrellyMama
No, there wasn't a falling out. I didn't know I had 2 extra brothers or sisters until I was 7. One of my sisters passed away a couple months ago. This has been the year of family reunions for me. I haven't even seen the brother I grew up with in almost 15 years. Desert Rat
I hope you have a wonderful visit and can have a fresh start with your brother and his wife. I bet they are just as nervous as you are. Good for you for taking a big step!
SquirrellyMama
I should also mention that my brother doesn't live in the US very often so it wouldn't have been possible to see him much anyway unless I had traveled to Africa, Russia or other various places. Not that it wouldn't have been fun. Kelly
*********
In a few days, I'm going to see two aunts, an uncle, and a cousin that I haven't seen in 25 years, because my dad and stepmom shut them out of my life. I understand. :grouphug:
