Our 9th anniversary is next month and I am going to give my dh my grandpas ring. I want to engrave something meaningful inside but I am not good with words at all. I want something sweet and simple. I need a starting point, any ideas???

Perhaps the beautiful verse from Song of Solomon--I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine. You could get it written in Hebrew.

"The Hebrew letters of the word אלִול can be read as an acronym for the phrase Ani l'dodi v'dodi li, "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine." (That's from the Song of Songs.) The Beloved, the rabbis teach, is one way of understanding God..."

I really love the French saying: 'Por Tous Jours.' Meaning, 'For all days'. Also one of my favorites...In Latin: 'Pari Passu.' Meaning, 'With Equal Step' Good luck and congrats

I just did this for our 10 year anniversary. I had engraved, "To my husband, with all my love." He absolutely loved it! He's not much on mushiness so it was short and sweet-just like him!!! (Dh is only 5'7, but I'm 5'0)

I love the suggestions already posted, and for *me*, I'd love it if DH did something like this. I would love to give him one inscribed with the quote from Ruth - what a great idea!

However, for *him*, it probably would be something along the lines of "it's you", or "I know you", or even perhaps just the word "always" - DH and I both agree that our hearts had known one another long before we met. And when we met, it just took us a while before we realized, "Hey, I know you!" So, for a ring for him, I'd be tempted to go that route - something that would have meaning for him. It would be a little more challenging, since a lot of our interaction is riddled with things that don't translate well to engravings:

- I love you.

- You must.

or

- I didn't marry you for your ______ (insert whatever one of us has just botched, here)

or

- You weirdo.

- Yeah. That's why you love me.

So, I'd have to keep it simple.

What a sweet and generous gift you're planning! I'm sure whatever you put on it, he will be thrilled.

I threatened to put inside my dh's wedding ring (for 7th anniv) "If you can read this, you're a dead man."

But I didn't do it.

That is possibly the funniest thing I've heard all day! Thanks for the laugh, Patty! :)
