madteaparty
I would like to dictate a paragraph or two to my 8 year old before I head to work in the morning each day this summer. Would love to not have to purchase a curriculum, as I already feel overwhelmed with keeping track of everything. Do you have a favourite source? Favorite paragraphs from books would be the no-brainer, I do realise this. Perhaps a curriculum would not be a bad idea after all.
nd293
If you were in Australia, I'd recommend Downunder Dictation. I haven't used it myself, but have used their Downunder Copywork which uses the same quotes. They are quotes from classic Australian literature - poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Assuming you're not Australian, it might still be fun to be exposed to the literature of another country - what a great way to open up discussion! The books are available as e-book downloads. Free
Another free source for dictation passages are these vintage books by Mary Rossman and Mary Mills: The Dictation Spelling Book Part 1 The Dictation Spelling Book The passages in these seem to be quite lovely.
