Anyone use the Spiriva inhaler?

Recommended Posts

My dr. just prescribed this for me. I haven't used it yet, but I've been trying to check it out online because I hadn't heard of it before. Then, today, someone calls from the manufacturer (she says they partner with my pharmacy) and asks how I am doing. She also asks if they can continue to check in with me to see how I'm doing. :001_huh:

That's a first for me and now I'm even more curious. Has anyone used it? Also, have you had drug manufacturers call and check up on you?

My father has been using it for about 6 years now. When he came to live near us, he was super thin and severely ill with COPD. He was put on Advair and Spiriva and has regained 80% of his lung capacity. His doctor has never seen a patient come back from being so far gone. I've heard both of those drugs are terrible for your teeth but dad doesn't have any teeth now so it hasn't bothered him in the least.

eta: I'm fairly certain dad hasn't ever received a phone call from the manufacturer.

Thanks for the response! I hadn't yet read about any problems with teeth, so I will look into that. I don't have the main problems that it's listed to be used for, so I'm hoping that I won't have bad side effects. It would just be short term use at this point.

I'm glad your dad is doing well!
