warriormom
I think I want to get a 5.5 x 8.5 binder for my CC history timeline cards. I am hesitant to buy a binder sight unseen. If you have these cards, can you tell me which binder you purchased? Do you like it? Do you think I will be fine to just add a ring to the bottom of the cards? melmichigan
:bigear: I'm not sure I have the heart to hole punch them, at least not this year.
warriormom
I am considering the better binder 8.5 x 5.5 with sheet protectors instead of hole punching.
JudoMom
I am considering the better binder 8.5 x 5.5 with sheet protectors instead of hole punching. This is what I did with my VP cards and I'm happy with it.
NoPlaceLikeHome
This is what I did with my VP cards and I'm happy with it. Any links? Any good prices for sheet protectors that size? I came up with about $50 for the sheet protectors alone:001_huh: I am hoping to find a better price:D
warriormom
So any creative, inexpensive ideas for these cards?
mindypickens
I am a tutor for CC and have both the timeline and the science cards. I personally prefer to 2 hole punch the bottoms of the cards and then I use flexible plastic aviation rings from www.flyboys.com to secure them because they don't harm the cards at all even with much use. I like the timeline cards on rings because speed is of the essence and so that they can be taken out, displayed, played with and rearranged etc. However, for the Science cards, I will put them in a binder because I will use them more like a book and want access to the backs for more information. That's just my 2 cents.
Blessedmomof4:)
Where do you find a binder to fit the new timeline cars?
melmichigan
If you have it check out the CC forum for some other ideas. :)
Dmmetler
If you have "Bargain Hunt" stores near you, the one here has TONS of the 8.5"x5.5" view binders for .99 each. I bought several for our VP card sets. Even with page protectors from Staples, it still cost less than $20 to get all three of our World history sets into binders. MeganW
Have you done CC before? I bought binders and page protectors last year, and wasted SO much time getting the cards in and out of binders. I wanted the kids to look at the pictures up close, I wanted to read the backs, I wanted them to put the cards in order, etc. etc. The other problem is that if you are singing the timeline, it is hard to flip fast enough. Our tutor had hers on huge rings at the bottom, and it was much faster for her to just "drop" one card at a time as we sang, rather than flipping a page like I was trying to do. So I am trying to make myself put two holes at the bottom of my beautiful new cards...

I've thought about the binders, but the expense makes me hesitant. But putting holes into the cards is so hard to do!

Last year I got the binders & page protectors on really cheap sale @ Staples.

thundersweet
I am considering the better binder 8.5 x 5.5 with sheet protectors instead of hole punching. I saw these yesterday. I didn't get any because I had no idea what I would use them for. Now I am thinking they would be awesome for the VP history cards. Do they actually even make sheet protectors for this size binder? Never mind.....I see now they do make sheet protectors in this size. Duh! Sandy
Dmmetler
The sheet protectors were something like $5 for 25 at Staples last week. I figure I'll pick up a pack a week as the $5 minimum purchase to do the .01 deals :).
Kim in SouthGa
I have mine in a basket right now and will put the ones we are working on weekly on a display board like this: http://pinterest.com/pin/274790014733302654/ The basket is just a plastic storage thing about the same size as the stack of cards and I'll put sticky tabs on them to divide them by weeks.
