Run this by me again - blisters

Recommended Posts

Well, popping can lead to infection, so I say, if you do pop, pop with a sterilized needle, don't peel back the skin, and cover with an antibiotic ointment and a bandaid.

:iagree: my son could not resist popping them, and they got infected before morning when he finally told me they were popped. :glare:

If they are on a foot, I wipe them with alcohol, use a pin sterilized in alcohol, let them drain, wipe with alcohol again, and cover with a bandaid and antibiotic ointment.

As a kid, I never understood the sense in me having to limp around on a full blister when it felt so much better drained, so I did them myself. As a parent, I would rather take care of it for my kid myself in a way that prevents infection, instead of him doing it himself.

We always pop them, proper sterilization and bandage with ointment after. I am pretty sure this is what the army recommends--they walk a lot.:001_smile:

IMO leaving them creates many more problems. We are generally ready to go the next day. Frequently if you leave them you need a day or two off from activities.

I would say if it is painful to leave them alone, properly pop them and care for them. My son had a blister on the bottom of his foot....it hurt a lot....so we carefully popped it, added ointment and a bandade...it healed very quickly.
