Mama2Three Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Hi there! I have looked into the SWR program and I really like the theory behind it, but for right now it's too time intensive for me. Is there a spelling program that works on root words that would be more pick-up-and-go? TIA! :) Quote
BlessedMom Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 You might want to take a look at All About Spelling. You can see it at allaboutspelling.com. Marie ( the creator) is great about answering any of your questions. I think there is a comparison to SWR in the FAQ section. They also offer a money back guarantee for one year. HTH Quote
PeterPan Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I'm surprised you mention root words. SWR doesn't work on root words at all, but rather it looks at the individual components, breaking the word down by syllables and sounds. You're already doing quite a bit with your ETC and PP, so personally I'd suggest you wait until you finish those. Your dc can use their phonics words for spelling and also do basic copywork. When they finish the ETC and PP, THEN look for a spelling program. Just my two cents. I did SWR from the beginning, but that's all we did, not on top of a regular phonics program. I just don't see the need to do both, not with that age. Quote
Mama2Three Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 OK, it looks like I might be jumping too far ahead here, lol! I'll keep All About Spelling in mind for the future. Quote
