Kathryn
I mean, blocking just one person so that they can't search for you and they can't see you on mutual friends' pages, etc.? I have a violent, mentally unstable family member who just got out of a long prison sentence and I was informed this morning that he got a Facebook account. Can I block his ability to see/find me? Kathryn
Been there. You also need to check your privacy settings. When I would share pictures on FB of my son, his father (who ds wants nothing to do with) could see them. I figured out that we shared a couple of friends, and I had had my pictures visible to friends of friends. So even though I had blocked him, he could still see the pictures I posted if a mutual friend commented on them. Oh really? Thanks for the heads up on that, I do have my pictures set to friends of friends.
KnitWit
Set your pics/posts to *friends only*. (in addition to blocking)
swellmomma
Set your pics/posts to *friends only*. (in addition to blocking) :iagree:AND I made it so that the 1 connection between me and 1 person I blocked could not see most posts I put up. On the bottom corner of the post box there is a settings tab, on that you can make it visible to all friends but xyz. So the person is blocked, everything is friends only, AND the person that was the same between the 2 of us can not see everything I post so he is on my friends list but can not post to my stuff (though he can write on my wall), so for the person I have blocked I have pretty much fallen off the face of FB. Kathryn
Okay, I think I've got everything done. All my pictures and my wall are now set to friends only. I've blocked him. When I looked at his page, he only had three friends and just one in common. The one in common is someone that isn't on Facebook much (and that means pretty much ever) and I don't think we've ever done anything beyond my saying happy birthday one year. But, I expect that he'd gain at least four more in common. This came as a shock because the last I'd heard, he was living in a homeless shelter in order to qualify for mental health services and he's been in prison in solitary confinement or in mental wards for over a decade so really doesn't know anything about computers. Kathryn
Sorry, another question. I've got a few photos with our mutual friend tagged. My albums all say friends only, but when I click on a few photos, they say friends and friends of tagged people. If I click to edit that, the box that pops up says friends only already, but I still click save. When the page refreshes, it still says that picture is set to friends and friends of tagged friends. Is this a glitch? Should I untag that relative in pictures?
