Just Kate
Did/do you allow your children to watch the Rugrats tv show?
clarkacademy
Yep, we own all of them even saw them in theatre when the two movies came out. We all still watch them. Love those crazy babies!
amo_mea_filiis.
I love rugrats! Ds just borrowed a bunch from the library.
WiseOwlKnits
No, but not because there's anything "wrong" with them. We just don't do much TV at all. I can't actually remember the last time we turned on the TV.
gingersmom
I don't think I could have kept my daughter away from them. :001_smile:
Lily of the Valley
I did let dd16 watch Rugrats when she was little because she loved them, but I hate Rugrats! They are whiny and annoying, in my opinion. Dd11 still enjoys watching them, and I finally told her the other day that she can only watch when I'm out of hearing distance! sparrow
Nope, but we encourage viewing Avatar/Legend of Korra and Adventure Time ;).
Guest
My mom didn't let us watch them, I didn't know that show was even still around!
Karen in CO
Yes, I do. My kids have all loved it, and they're all still polite, kind and well-mannered. My friend won't let her kids watch them because of the attitude/meanness of one of the characters.
Crimson Wife
I hate Rugrats! They are whiny and annoying, in my opinion. :iagree::iagree::iagree: I used to work as a nanny, and Rugrats were huge back then. I *HATED* that show! Fortunately, we don't have cable/satellite so it's not an issue for our family.
Mothersweets
My olders watched it back in the day. We tried to watch an episode recently so my 5 and 7yo would know what it was all about. We barely made it through said episode it was so loud, grating, and whiny. And my younger girls thought the animation was so ugly. Strange how 15 years can make such a change in my ears. :)
Word Nerd
I hate the show! DSS used to watch it a lot, especially the movie. I find it more annoying than objectionable (like Dragon Tales...I used to secretly wish a knight would come and slay the dragons). My DDs watched an episode or two on Netflix and didn't care for it. Whew!
Parrothead
We watched when dd was little. The only one I wished we skipped was the one when Chuckie ate the watermelon seed.
Just Kate
My mom didn't let us watch them, I didn't know that show was even still around! Netflix streaming.
Dinsfamily
No. I am so annoyed by that show that I can't even say if I object to the content. Thankfully, my dc agree so it isn't an issue. We feel the same way about Sponge Bob.
Farrar
Huh. I don't see it as great TV, but I can't imagine disallowing it specifically if my kids wanted to watch it. Something has to be actually offensive or inappropriate, not just annoying to me personally.
DianeW88
Yep. My older kids grew up on it. Love Rugrats!
momtoamiracle
yes, my son watches it sometimes on Netflix.
Desert Strawberry
I loved it prekids prekids. Dh bought me the dolls for Christmas the year we were married. Now, not so much. It's ok,but I generally dislike shows that portray parents as bumbling bumbling fools. Sadly, that seems to be most of them.
Firestar Academy
No. I am so annoyed by that show that I can't even say if I object to the content. Thankfully, my dc agree so it isn't an issue. We feel the same way about Sponge Bob. :iagree::iagree: robin in nj
Joani
I've always allowed it, but it was never a big hit with my kids.
freeindeed
Did/do you allow your children to watch the Rugrats tv show? My oldest LOVED it as a child, and I liked watching it with him. It was really funny! My younger kids really don't know much about it, though, since it was before their "time."
Lisbeth
No. I am so annoyed by that show that I can't even say if I object to the content. Thankfully, my dc agree so it isn't an issue. We feel the same way about Sponge Bob. This. But we don't allow much tv. Maybe 2 hrs per week is all we watch/have time for.
Just Kate
Thanks for all of the replies. Today is very HOT here (high of 103!) and I have no plans to leave the house. Dh is out of town and I am working on deep cleaning. We have Netflix and I was looking for something new for the kids to watch. I remembered thinking Rugrats was funny way back when in my pre-kids days, but couldn't really remember the details. Just curious to know the Hive's opinion! :D Btw, my kids watched a few episodes and enjoyed them. Thanks again!
DawnM
YES! One of Dh's clients is on the show (he is the voice of Grandpa Pickles)
Kelly1730
My olders watched it back in the day. We tried to watch an episode recently so my 5 and 7yo would know what it was all about. We barely made it through said episode it was so loud, grating, and whiny. And my younger girls thought the animation was so ugly. Strange how 15 years can make such a change in my ears. :) :iagree: My 20 dd watched it some when she was little but by the time the twins came along (10 years later) I banned it. Along with Caiu (sp?) and any other whining, disobedient cartoon children. I just couldn't stand listening to it at that point.
Impish
Yup, kids think it's great :D
aggieamy
Um ... DD has never seen the show (we aren't TV people) but I used to watch it as a kid. Don't remember anything objectionable but kids normally don't. :tongue_smilie:
Caitilin
 HECK NO! I hate the animation, the kids whine, and they all sound like they need their sinuses cleaned out with a high powered vacuum. :ack2:
Annie G
My kids loved the show until Dil was born. After that they didn't care for it.
J9Mommy
We also have Netflix. My 7 year old just recently found the show and loves watching it inbetween "Nature's Deadliest." Such a great combo ! LOL. I also use to watch it as a child.
