Ever heard the idea of women living in the same household having the same monthly...

cycle? I was reading Liberty's post about feeling depressed and I, too, am depressed right now (had a particularly bad day yesterday) and I got to thinking, "Is it possible, we are all on the same monthly cycle because we come here so often and are kind of 'living together'?" Just a random musing.

When my daughter got her first period...hers must have been stronger because mine got so messed up that I stopped ovulating and bled off and on most of the time! Now, a year later, my period is same as hers and more regular than it ever has been. I am back to trying to conceive. I had never ever heard of infertility caused by another female in the house having an opposite cycle that affected your own. But I had heard of periods in a home all ending up the same, and it did here.

Does that mean we get to group up together in The Red Tent? Just us gals, no guys? Sitting around all day on...on...well, let's see, it is 2008, we can do better than straw...how about pillows and soft cushy blankets?! Maybe even a tent compatible air conditioner? We can giggle and make hand crafts and...

...Oh, sorry. I just went off into my own little daydream there. :D

Yes, female members of the same household can/will definitely cycle together. It's not as predictable as it once was because we are no longer in sync with the lunar cycle as women once were. There's too much artificial light. In my house, though, it's all goofed up because my hormones are overriding my usual timing. Oldest dd just began menstruating last fall. She was ahead of me for about two months. We were within days of each other for several months, and then, my raging hormones pulled into the lead. She can't (nor should she) keep up with my 21 day cycle, so we're destined to be on different schedules. Maybe that's a good thing for us and our other family members, eh? ;)

Interesting related story. On the farm, we'd have hens go broody, meaning they'd want to hatch out their eggs (set) rather than just lay them and leave. We didn't want broody hens because broodies don't lay (aka: earn their keep), so we'd herd up the broodies and put them in a smaller cage. They'd have food and water, and room to roam, but no nest boxes, and an unfamiliar environment to "break them" of their broodiness. It usually took a week to ten days. Then, one hen would lay, and like clockwork, the rest would begin to lay within two days. Pheremones fer shur! :D

This is not something that comes up in my house. . . :001_huh:

However, when I was in BASIC training. . .yep, by the end all 60 of us (one platoon) were all "hormonally happy" at the same time.

I remember one of the drills (male) commenting on now he understood why so many drill sergeants requested a company transfer when they discovered it was their company that would be hit with the next wave of females. . .

Oh, my. It's hard enough around here with just dd15 and myself. 60??? Hard to imagine that kind of hormonal force - I'm picturing a mushroom cloud :).

Well, it made me terribly curious to know if the other 3 platoons were on the same schedule (4 platoons in the company), but I was kept too busy to find out.

I lived with my best friend and her parents from the time I was 13 to 24, and our cycles were always the same. Even now as an adult, my best friend and I have the same cycles! It's always baffled me b/c we didn't start like that...they just ended up in cycle together. Here's a hug for you :grouphug:. I hope your day is better today!

I've been thinking about this interesting balancing-out God created. Since it is obviously so, and since women were to separate from everyone else during Aunt Flo's visit, it seems to me that God created a built in system for guaranteeing that us gals get our opportunities for girl-talk every month. And another nice result: the guys left behind have a regular reminder to appreciate their wives even more when Aunt Flo's visit is over.

I don't think it could be possible for us on the board to balance out like that since they say it's caused by pheromones, but I can't deny it since it's that time right now for me, too.
