nancyb
Can anybody recommend a good movie/video for my family to watch on the Fourth of July? My kids are 5-12. We have access to You Tube and Netflix.

mammaofbean
1776 I love this movie and we watch it every year. Another good option is episodes of liberty's kids on Netflix.
Murrayshire
My kids are going to watch Liberty's Kids today!!:001_smile:
mschickie
1776 is a great movie but the 5 year old might not get it. We watch it every year but I think this year is the first year dd (9) will actually be interested in it. Liberty's Kids are great shows or you could do Johnny Tremain. Lizzie in Ma
Not sure about the 5 year old with this one but we love Independence Day. :D Nothing says 4th of July at our house like kicking some alien b*tt. Bill Pullman for President!!!
Aurelia
We've always enjoyed Yankee Doodle Dandy. It's got plenty of patriotic songs, is historical and the main character was born on the 4th of July.
Classical Country Mama
Today we're watching History of the Holidays: Independence Day (July 4). Only $1.99 at Amazon. We might do Liberty Kids later too. Maybe. And Will Smith's Independence Day, after the kids are in bed, heh. :D
LAmom
We watched part of Story of Us on Netflix. Where did instant Liberty's Kids on Netflix go? Boo! :glare: Oh, I also downloaded Liberty and the Littles from iTunes but haven't watched it yet. Don't know much about it.
...................
Well we tried 1776 and while we thought it was excellent acting, funny and interesting we had to turn it off. My children learned more curse words yesterday than their entire lives. Through halfway... Uses "God" in vain hundreds of times Uses "Jesus" in vain twice Uses "bit**" Uses "da*n" often Uses Hell Says "God Da**" Says "Se*ual" References lust, having s*x in the daytime, and in such a way as to be completely clear, not in a way that goes over kids' heads. Makes jokes about possibly sleeping with someone other than his wife... Definitely won't ever be turned on again here. It was a real disappintmebt because the acting and singing and camera angles and character development was excellent!!!
