Mrs.W
I'm not from TX, but will be in the area for Jr. Olympics earlier in the week, so we're considering staying an extra few days so I can go to the conference. I've never heard SWB speak live before and since she's talking about taking a break from conference speaking, I figure this might be the best opportunity I get. Anyone else going? Been in the past? Is it a pretty good conference? Is there public transportation in the area? Is it really worth 3 extra nights at a hotel to hear SWB speak or am I just too star-struck? :D
Juniper
I am considering and I will be at the Jr Olympics as well ;) I have never been to the conference before though so I do not know how good it is. Sorry!

Wish I could answer your questions. Hopefully someone will chime in with the info. I will say: I have heard that the conference is very good, but I am not sure about the speaker line-up besides SWB. And... As a general rule, Texas is not known for stellar public transportation. :tongue_smilie:
acurtis75
I've always enjoyed the conference in previous years. I am from Texas and agree with pp that there really arent't public transportation options in the area where the conference is held. However, you could stay at the hotel where the conference is located and there are restaurants and things right there so you wouldn't necessarily need a car. The hotel might even have an airport shuttle from IAH.
Mrs.W
I am considering and I will be at the Jr Olympics as well ;) Cool! What sport? However, you could stay at the hotel where the conference is located and there are restaurants and things right there so you wouldn't necessarily need a car. The hotel might even have an airport shuttle from IAH. We looked at rates for that hotel, but it only gives us the option of $269 for a king size bed -- not going to work for 5 people, even if we could afford it. :tongue_smilie: We will have a car there, but DH will be out and about with the kids and on Friday won't be able pick me up. So I just need to find a way to get back to the hotel, which will probably be a couple miles away.
Mrs.W
Okay, so it's official -- I'm going! :hurray: I'm not going to know a soul there, so anyone up for a WTM lunch or dinner? I know I don't post much here, but I'm a real person and do not have a criminal record.
