okay, so I found the Scholastic ENcyclopedia of the US at War very cheaply on Amazon, and it was recommended on a couple of blogs, so that's purchased. I am strongly considering HOAC's lapbook...has anyone used it? I have used their lapbooks before, and they all follow a similar format, so in that sense, I know what I am buying.....

Thanks.

Usborne has a great book on the World Warshttp://www.amazon.com/The-World-Wars-Introduction-Second/dp/0794519717/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341300945&sr=8-1&keywords=world+wars+usborne

Where Poppies Grow-a WWI Companion by Linda Granfield This was an interesting book on the background of the poppies that we associate with war veterens. Found it fascinating about the plant and why they grew so abundantly during the war. Not sure if the poem about Flanders Field is in there or not. That's worth looking into as well.

The Singing Tree by Kate Seredy This is about a family that takes in children from war zones during WWI and care for them. http://www.amazon.com/Singing-Tree-Newbery-Library-Puffin/dp/0140345434/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1341301103&sr=1-1&keywords=the+singing+tree+by+kate+seredy
