Michelle T Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Apparently this is the book IEW is based on. It's by James Webster, according to the Rainbow Resource entry. I like the idea of IEW's TWSS, but just can't stand watching those DVD's. I much prefer a written curriculum/book that I can read over as often as necessary, preferably comfortably in bed. So I would love a book explaining IEW's ideas. However, the Rainbow Resource entry says this book is for " TWSS teachers and those with advanced students." So, could I read this book in place of watching TWSS? Just how technical is it? At $35, it's a lot cheaper than IEW, and I would much prefer a book to a DVD series. Michelle T Quote
MIch elle Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 because I feel the same way about watching the DVD's (although I have watched them over the years). The IEW history based lessons work better for us than the dvd's. I suggest trying them. P.S. If you want my copy, make me an offer. Quote
angela in ohio Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 It is written for a classroom teacher, so quite a bit of it is devoted to managing a class of writng students. Mr. Pudewa really makes the program so much more than it was in the book. I really enjoyed reading it after watching the DVDs, and I think it adds immensely to an understanding of the program, but I can't think that it would have been helpful to read it instead of watching them.
