Unfinished bookcases arrived today- load 'em up or tung oil them?

They are here! I can actually unload my books and our lessons could start this week!!! If I don't tung oil them. If I do tung oil them, it'll take 2-3 days just to do that but they will be protected.

 

So...

 

Do I load 'em up and get the satisfaction that has been delayed for so long and relax a little with intentions to tung oil them next month?

 

or

 

Just tung oil them now and finish this project before ds4 takes a pencil or marker accidently to them between next month and now?

This one. In our house, it might be a long time before I really got around to finishing them.

I would tung oil them now and be done with it. In my experience, it is infinitely harder to go back and finish a task once the convenience of having it 1/2 done is already in place. It may take you 2-3 more days to experience it but the satisfaction of having the job 100% complete will be worth so much more.

I have 10 unfinished bookshelves in my school room that I "planned" to stain sometime soon, that was 4 years ago. Just go ahead and stain them.
