A few fellow students in my classes have learned that I already have taken the classes they will take in the fall. They said, "Are you interested in selling your books?"

Actually, I hadn't considered it. The campus bookstore offers SO little back. I had an idea I *might* try to ebay them when I finish the program.

But, with interested buyers, and no fees . . . what should I charge? I bought them used (I feel less self-conscious highlighting used books!) for $50-70. New ones would be $65-140. Do you think half of the prices I paid would be fair to ask?

If I was feeling generous, that's exactly what I would do -- half of what I paid. If I wasn't, it would be half of the price of the new book. :-)

Half of what you paid would be a bargain to them and you'd get back about double the bookstore would offer you.

I think half of the price you paid would be eminently fair.

Make a point too of asking what used texts they have; perhaps you could trade if they have the text for a class you'll be taking.

I regularly help my dd sell her college texts. Check half.com...it's a great place to buy and sell used college texts. You'll get a good idea of what your books are worth.

I generally ask close to what I paid for them (but I really bargain shop!).

Tip 2...put the ISBN # in at fetchbook.info. You'll get a list of shops with that text and their current price!

It would depend on the condition of the books. How much highlighting did you do? Did you do any other writing? Is the binding broken or loose? Are the pages bent or torn? Is the cover badly worn? Go to half.com, or amazon.com, and read the descriptions for Book Condition. Then, price accordingly.

If they're in "like new" condition, I'd sell them for half the new price.

If the pages are mostly clean, and the bindings are tight (very good condition), I'd sell them for 1/3 of the new price.

If there is lots of highlighting, or writing, or bent pages, or loose bindings, I'd sell for half what you paid for them.

If they are pretty much "used up", in just good or fair condition, I'd give them away.
