amy g. Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 My 20 month old has decided that she doesn't want to wear diapers anymore...or pull ups...or panties...or clothes. She just wants to be naked all of the time. If she had to wear something, it would be a swim diaper, which breaks her out. I let her be naked at first thinking that she might be wanting to potty train. Oh no, she does NOT want to sit on the potty. She wants to urinate in the highchair, and the carpet and my pillow. That just does not feel like an option to me. Today, she was throwing a naked fit because she did not want to put on a diaper. She was beet red, screaming and trying to hurt us, so I put her in her bed for a time out. Of course she wet it-more laundry. Tonight, we were trying to put a diaper on her to get her to sleep. She was trying to pinch us, and bite screaming, "no bad" as loudly as she could. When we got the diaper on her, she started trying to rip it off, so we had to hold her down, and force on a pair of leggings over it. It really makes me uncomfortable to have to treat her this way. Dd 13 has her now, taking a walk. She convinced the baby to quit crying because it would scare the deer, and they wouldn't see any on the road. It seems like I have a reprieve until she wakes up in the morning, and I have to change her diaper again. Is this something that we just have to go through? Quote
Amy in Orlando Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Oh no! I'm sorry, I'm laughing here because I remember going through this with my twins sons (who are now 14). It wasn't funny at the time, but looking back??? It's kind of funny. I resorted to duct tape around the top of the diaper and then I would leave the diaper on as long as possible (neither kid was prone to rashes). They DO outgrow it. I think your best bet is to try to remain matter-of-fact about things. Diaper goes on and stays on as best you can. Don't let it turn into a battle of wills if you can avoid it. (Also, if you go the duct tape route - the scissors with the safety tip on on end are great for getting them out of the diaper scratch-free). Quote
kribby Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 sounds like it something she is going through, might want to ask her does she want to go potty like her big sissy and brother. IF she says no say ok then you have to wear diapers until you go potty on the chair. Good luck I hope things get better soon. Quote
Remudamom Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Sorry, but this is me cracking up because you have to deal with this and not me. :001_tt2: You have my deepest sympathy. My oldest son did that when he was little, joyfully ripping off all his clothes everytime he went outside. Thank goodness we are in the country. Quote
sleepy Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Oh Amy, I feel your pain. I had one like this, and I had to resort to putting a union suit on her backwards. With the snaps going up her back, there was no way she could get it off. Quote
