LearnLaughLove
Besides the wood pieces, TGs, workbooks, and slate chalk board, what is ESSENTIAL for pre-k and K?
My3Munchkins
Really the only essentials for us were the workbook and little slate. DC also liked the stamp and see screen.
Canadianmumof5
That covers it! Nothing else required.
lindblomnest
We used the wood pieces, slate and workbooks and had great success. I didn't use Mat Man or make the Magic C Bunny. My kids haven't missed it.
EastTNmom
I only used the TG, student book, and slate for K. Since then, i've printed out free letter builders from Confessions of a Homeschooler's site to use with my pre-Ker.
raceNzanesmom
I agree, that's all you need. And, it's likely you don't need the pre-k AND k book. Either will give the info you need. I bought a box of chalk and broke some pieces in half to help with the grip, and cut a new sponge into little pieces. works fine. You can use your own play-doh, if desired, write in shaving cream, rice, sand, etc. Enjoy!
Stellalarella
If a person does not have a TG for any other grade level, I would recommend getting the TG. I didn't use it often, but I did find it very important in the beginning to help me understand the how and why of the HWT philosophy. I really like HWT a lot. It is one of my very favorite curriculums. I've now used it with 4 children, from pre-k to 3rd grade level. For pre-k, I use slate, chalk, workbook and the wooden pieces. Other options that I've liked very much include: laminated letters to go with the wooden pieces the pre-k music CD--it is very good quality music and easy to listen to
craftyerin
My kids have had no interest in the stamp-n-see or the roll-a-dough. They like the slate, the wood letter pieces, and a salt box. I like having the laminated capital letter cards, too.
pitterpatter
That sounds good...just cut your own sponge pieces and pencils. PS - DD did enjoy the CD, but totally not essential. PPS - The double-line chalk board too...you need that. Well, *I* think you do.
