Need book suggestions for 4th grade readers...

I'm looking for good books that take place during the last century and a half in North America. Fiction or non-fiction for me to read aloud to a 9yo boy. I have some on my list already but it's been a five years since I revised the list.

Since you haven't had any other responses, I got out an old Sonlight catalog for 4th grade. This covers American history from the War Between the States till today. I love SL for their reading lists.
