edeemarie
I just found this recipe for making sunscreen and I am curious if anyone has ever tried something like this. I would love to try it, but I would hate for my kids to be sunburned while I am "trying" it out. If you have tried a recipe and had success, was it similar to this recipe or did it have different ingredients? Thanks!
homeschool mom
I have never heard of this before, but I'd like to try it. So many cosmetics can be homemade, probably this can, too.
Munchkins_mama
I have the ingredients sitting on the counter right now waiting for me to try it. I alternate between fear of chemical in sunblock, and fear of skin cancer from no sunblock. Oy!

edeemarie
Try it out on yourself. I'd risk a slight burn to give it a go. I think that is exactly what I will do. I am pretty fair skinned, but my husband has some Cherokee Indian, which I think most of the children have inherited and therefore don't burn as easily. I'll keep you all updated and let you know if it actually works!

In The Great White North
I think it will work just fine. Zinc oxide is the active ingredient in physical (as opposed to Chemical sunscreens). The other stuff just makes it easier apply.
wapiti
For your experiment, it might be neat to use store-bought sunscreen on part of you and the homemade sunscreen on another part, to compare. As far as using it on the kids, I'd want to be sure it was uniformly mixed.
tomandlorih
:bigear::bigear: for results as well.. I would love to avoid the chemicals!
