RainbowSprinkles
My dd just took two Teaching Textbook placement tests. She missed 2 on 4th grade. Then she did Grade 5 and missed 4. Now I'm debating whether or not to start with 5th grade or have her do the 6th grade placement test. Anyone have any advice? :bigear:
QuirkyKidAcademy
Look over the 6th grade placement test yourself. You will know just by looking, at least I did, what you could expect her to know/not know. Sounds like she's ready for TT6 though. If she does encounter difficulty, you can always stop with the CD and work with her personally until she's up to speed again. Good luck! krisperry
Take the placement test until she doesn't pass it. Then place her in the highest level that she does pass.
Chrysalis Academy
Be a little bit careful. My dd aced the grade 4 test and got something like 86% on the grade 5 test, which would have placed her into grade 6. But then I saw that TT5 was where you learned multidigit multiplication and division and a lot of fraction stuff I knew she didn't know - so I thought skipping it would be a bad idea. Maybe all that stuff is taught again in TT6, too, I don't know, but I would at least look at the scope & sequence/table of contents before making a final decision . . . kemilie
personally I feel like their 3/4/5/6 all have quite a bit of overlap and don't get into that much new material. I'd place her as high as I could. You can buy just the textbook for $40, you could buy the textbook for 5, have her go through the parts you think she needs to review, and then start full out on 6?
