x-post: Good Bible passages to memorize?

We usually try to memorize a few Bible passages over the year, along with our stuff for history and LA. Last year the boys memorized Psalm 23 and The Lord's Prayer.

Any ideas? Favorites? Etc?

These are passages our kids have learned:

John 3:16

John 14:6

Galatians 5:22-23

Psalm 118:24

Isaiah 41:31

Philippians 4:13

 

There are many great passages in Philippians.

 

I like to memorize verses about the sovereignty of God. I find these immensely helpful for getting perspective events of life, worries, thinking about the future, etc.

For example:

Romans 8:28

Romans 11:36

Jeremiah 32:17

 

The "Roman Road" is a good set to memorize:

Romans 3:23

Romans 6:23

Romans 5:8

Romans 10:9-10

Romans 10:13

 

I Timothy 6:17-19 is a great passage for how to handle and think about money. (I consider that anyone who lives in America/western world is "rich" compared to the standard of living of the majority of people in the rest of the world.)

I Corinthians 13 is another great chapter.

We try to focus on chapters or at least decent chunks of scripture. Psalm 1 is one I start with. Psalm 130 and 131 we've worked on. Most recently we memorized romans12
