Stacey in NY
My 2 ds are going to be 6th and 8th grades next year. We have done the whole cycle of History, Ancients- Modern, American, and State History. I feel as though Geography keeps getting missed. We do it a little with other programs, but nothing in depth. I am considering just doing geography for History this year. Trying to find a good comprehensive program, any suggestions? I did see Mapping the World by Heart which looked interesting. Crimson Wife
My DD will likely do private high school (either online or classroom-based) and the schools we are considering don't have world geo in their normal sequence. So I've decided to do a year of world geo next year and then a 3 year world history rotation. I borrowed two Glencoe textbooks from our virtual charter's lending library. They actually look fairly similar, but one is designed for high school and the other for middle school. I got the Oak Meadow syllabus for the high school book with discussion questions and project suggestions. It looks like it can be adapted for use with the middle school book if the high school book proves to be too much for my DD. There are some other world geo suggestions in this thread: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=398787
helena
I just purchased Ellen McHenry's Mapping the World with Art: http://www.ellenjmchenrydownloads.com/Mapping-the-World-with-Art-Hard-Copy-CD-MPHC.htm It takes a year to complete and is for kids 11-16yo. We've used her brain unit study and loved it. Maybe this could work for you?

Her website also has a table of contents for the program.
