MrsBanjoClown
Really, this is not a terrible problem to have, but it's messing with all the planning I have done..lol. My boys are so ready to do their schoolwork! I'm so glad they love school so much. They have been in ps, and have been on break for 3 weeks, but spent the first two weeks going to VBS. This is the first week they have really had a "break", but I think we all do better with a schedule. DS5 was begging to read his Abeka reader yesterday, so we went ahead and had a reading lesson (He is already on lesson 34 even though we have not officially started yet, lol). I've been typing up lesson plans for each week, so now my reading lessons are all off for him, but it's not too hard to just adjust to the next lesson. Anyone else have kids itching to get started? boscopup
This is why I don't assign dates to lesson plans until the week before. ;) I also don't schedule "skills" stuff like that much, since I never know how fast my kids will go through the material. We started this week. It's gone really well. Of course, our first week also involved dentist AND orthodontist appointments, plus a bunch of guys are working on our garage all week, and some minor work was being done in our den earlier this week. I can't believe we got MOST of what I had planned done. :D
amyable
This is why I hate planning, LOL. They never do what I predict. Several of my kids do this "drag behind, leap ahead" thing where they don't "get" something for weeks and weeks, then leap ahead in development waaaaayyy past where they were. Multiply that by 5 kids and I'm going :willy_nilly: Luckily I have at least one that plugs along at a good pace. Hey, at least if they start early and are enthusiastic you might get more time off next summer. :D
Mrs.Gregg
Yup! I learned last year not to assign dates to our lesson plans and to schedule by subject that way when we get ahead or behind my whole "weekly" schedule isn't off. We've taken the last few weeks off save a few field trips and a summer co-op we are in. Next week is VBS then a trip to Montana. The kids really want to get back to WORK! So with DD2 (age 6) we are keeping to our reading lessons starting Monday and Math for DD1 (age 10) along with free reading and general summer fun. Our first day of our new year is August 13th
Heather in VA
I did when they were 5...not so much now that they are 17 and 13 (well will be in a week). The 9 year old wants to and is working some this summer... but no way with the teenagers. Love it while you can LOL Heather
Mélie
This is why I don't do too much planning. :D I've moved our start date up a few times already and they're already sneaking into their school stuff. :tongue_smilie:
