Why do people post pictures of their feet on Facebook?

Recommended Posts

And am I the only one who finds it weird? I don't want to see your feet on your coffee table, at the beach, or getting a pedicure.

And while I'm complaining about FB pictures, what's up with pictures of food? Why does everyone feel the need to brag about the awesome food they're eating?

:iagree: And most of them aren't very good pics so it looks pretty nasty to me. The food pics really bug me.

Feet? That's a new one on me. However I am guilty of posting pics of the veggies I'm getting from my garden. They're just so pretty!

LOL I do that *all the time*.

I don't make anyone read my status updates. I hope those who are not interested will just hide/skip post.

You're just jealous of my sparkly purple toes and my seared salmon salad!

(um, couldn't find a foot pic, but I'm sure this is just as annoying)

(I didn't actually have a photo of tonight's dinner, so you get Pie Club :-D)

When I first read the title I thought, "WHAT? Are that many people posting pictures of their feet.. why in the world.." And then I saw you said the beach and I do believe Im guilty. Last year I DID take a picture of my feet in the sand and waves.. Oops:) But thats the only one, I swear!

The women that post pics of their food on my facebook Im pretty sure are just trying to show off their cooking skills. Quite annoying to an 8 month pregnant lady that is hungry all the time anyway!

I won't post my feet, because they aren't pretty. However, what is wrong with it

I have a couple of friends that are awesome cooks and I love to see what they are making, hearing how it turned out, and sometimes they post the recipes or I request the recipes. Also, with those of us that may have certain diets (due to allergies or religious convictions) we share menus and recipes.

I don't take feet pics(except to show off my tattoos :tongue_smilie:) , but a lot of my friends do it as a way to show where their feet are taking them at the moment. Most of them also use instagram to make the picture look cool and old and all :D. As for food... I love seeing what people are eating. It inspires me and makes me jealous in a drool worthy way. I admit to taking pictures of food I make on occasion, but since it is all homemade and not perfect it is more of a record of our day kind of thing to share with the far off family.

Although you know you have covered feet in your avatar? lol There are toes etc beneath those slippers. :D

That is what I was going to say! I laughed SO HARD when I saw her post in contrast with the avatar that it attracted all of the kids (yes, they are still up). No offense, Ruby Sue, but that was funny.

I like the 'from where I stand' pics and food pics.

p.s. I want to join a pie club! Our family has recently developed a passion for pie...it's weird!

I like those pcis too! I like seeing things from weird angles so foot pics aren't weird to me, as long as the feet are nice. They don't have to be perfectly pedicured but if you have the feet of a hobbit, for the love of all things strawberry - keep your socks on!

And food pics? LOVE them! I love seeing what everyone is eating and I love pretty food - including lovely garden stuff.

One of my friends used to be quite into running barefoot. He'd take pictures of his feet while hiking in the snow, trying out new minimalist shoes or otherwise doing something interesting. It got him likes on facebook. I enjoyed the comments it inspired.

Feet pictures are second in weirdness only to giant, close up pictures of just your eye :001_huh: .

Pics of food crack me up because NOBODY ever posts dinner on the night they were low on groceries and fed their kids waffles, olives and dried apricots, lol.

I also greatly dislike when folks feel the need to inform me that they've just jogged 84.2 miles....or that they just kicked butt during an INSANITY work out. A.Nnoy.Ing.

Um, there is a Pie Club? How can I get some of that action?

You just need weird friends and a love for pie :-). It started because a friend got a recipe book from Mrs. Rowe's restaurant (exit 222 of 81 in VA). She wanted to make pie from scratch. The conversation spun out from there and Pie Club was born. Mrs. Rowe's is Pie Mecca and the only boughten pies allowed at Pie Club.

We make up rules, call the meeting to order, have The Reading of the Pies, and whatever silliness we can add each time. My personal goal is to try each pie. I skip breakfast so I can achieve this :-)

At spring break I got a pedicure and picked lime green for my toes. We had our backroom at the studio painted while we were gone. When we came home, my toes were the same color as the newly painted walls. I took a pic and posted it on FB ;)

A friend of mine posted a pic on FB of her entire family's feet standing in a circle at the beach. From ages 4-34, I thought it was adorable. But, I also like food pics, and have been known to post workout statuses. Maybe my friends are glad I am not on FB anymore. :D

:iagree: A lot of things about Facebook annoy me (#1 on the list is passive-aggressive "you" statuses in which the poster is really talking trash to just one person but subjects everyone on their Friends list to the drama), I like both of those and don't think they're weird at all.

Several years ago I started taking pictures of my feet, usually on beaches, all over the world. It's now a tradition and I take them on all my vacations! I have a my-feet-around-the-world collection. :D

On a similar note, my niece has pictures of herself doing handstands around the world.....on The Great Wall of China, in front of the Taj Mahal, on Mt. Everest, in front of the giant Jesus in Brazil......it's pretty awesome.

P.S. Just realized how much my avatar here must really bug you....

I think many of the feet pictures are fun, because you do get a sense of 'being in someone else's shoes.' I posted this one when my baby was newborn. She had just finished feeding and was doing her stretching and yawning. I had miraculously also painted my toenails AND made my bed. It was document-worthy. :)

I also posted the bowl of lemons for pretty, and then posted the picture of reality (for those who say that no one posts pictures of nights of frozen pizza mess or other such parenting lows,).

As long as pictures aren't crass, I don't mind what people post. I just skip over when I'm not interested. :001_smile: I particularly like pictures of food...except when I'm on a diet. But that isn't their fault.

Heidi, you can take any photo and make it gallery worthy. I mean, dirty dishes? You make it look like it belongs on a wall. :tongue_smilie: I have always loved all your photography. Especially love that one of your little girl.

Speakingof odd things people do, I felt like i could take some "people of Walmart" quality pics at the beach yesterday. I get that not everyone has the same level of modesty as I do, but if you are a bit overweight, why do you want to wear a string bikini? I'm not talking about obese people. People who were 20-30 lbs overweight and would probably look good in something that hid their flaws a little. But no, they're prancing around practically naked so that everyone can see every roll and their pregnant-looking belly. (it made an impression on me particularly because there were so many people dressed like this!) Then I turned and saw a man my age with a big, hairy plumbers crack sitting at a picnic table. How can you not feel the breeze and know that you need to pull your pants up?
