Has anybody here used this level?

What grade would you say it was for and what program should they have used to be able to use this?

I'm guessing it'll a bit easier than grade level and can/should be done in 2nd grade? Yes? No?

Can a 3rd grader do this or would that put them behind state standards?

Well, my son used TT3 at the *end* of 3rd grade and met state standards for 4th grade at the *beginning* of the next year. My second son is more advanced in math, and he used it at the end of 1st and through 2nd grade without problems. (We had done some workbooks with him previously, but not much formal math.)

My third son is a natural at math and loves doing things on the computer (besides being a strong reader), and he started playing around with TT3 just before he turned 5. He had done quite a lot of educational games on the computer, but no formal math at all. He got pretty far before tanking on some of the lessons. I just erased his scores and had him start over. He is now 5 (with a birthday in August) and started on TT4 because he wants to be just like his brothers. :)

All that to say, it just depends on the kid. TT3 starts out *very basic* and could be done with no prior math instruction. It speeds up fairly quickly, though. I'd say most kids could do it in 2nd grade.

My 8 year old just finished 3rd grade and TT3. He did great with it and I felt he was right on. He tested highly on the Stanford Achievement Test for his grade level (89th % - 9th grade) and has loved the program. It was just challenging enough without putting him over the top. He is not an overly "mathy" child, but does pick up math concepts quickly and I have no worries about him in this area.

My dd used it for 2nd. She is not mathy, but is bright..... More of a LA girl though. She did very well, but we did stop for a week when it introduced multiplication. The explanations were not enough for her to understand what multiplication really was. After working on a few pages from MM to get the concept, we moved on in TT.

She did MM for 1sr grade.

I would tend to put it at a 2nd grade level when comparing to other homeschool math curriculums. Not sure how it stacks up to public school math though..

Ds just finished 4th grade and used TT 7 this year with no problems so I would think that a 2nd grader using the 3rd grade would be fine as well :) .
