klmama
I saw in another post you mentioned a course in church history, and I wondered what resources you used. Thanks for any info you can share!
Candid
Can I jump in, too: I really like this book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Story-Christianity-Church-Present/dp/1565635221/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1340309408&sr=1-3&keywords=the+story+of+christianity+gonzalez (this is two volumes in one so it is about 800 pages total, be careful if you decide to buy this work because they also sell the two separate volumes separately.) I have not yet used/read these two books, but I do plan to use them at the appropriate point in our historical studies: http://www.amazon.com/The-Civil-War-Theological-Crisis/dp/0807830127/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340309581&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=civil+war+as+thelogical+crises http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Revivalism-William-G-McLoughlin/dp/159244976X/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340309616&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=modern+revivialism Note: I use Tapestry of Grace and these two books are used by them, the first is not and is a fairly secular version of overall church history. Lori D.
DH did that material with DSs. He used: Turning Points: Decisive Moments in the History of Christianity (Noll) Christianity Through the Ages (Latourette) The first was pretty interesting, the second was a bit of a dull slog; it was the text DH used in HIS college church history class, lo these many years ago. ;) And BTW, DH had Mark Noll (author of the first book) as a teacher back then and really enjoyed how interesting he made it all. Not sure if either of those resources are what you are looking for, though... BEST of luck! Warmly, Lori D.

Turning Points would be a good addition to a more thorough coverage of church history.
