Mrs. Hound
I'm trying to plan ahead (for our first official year..) I will be doing K with a 5 year old and Im trying to plan out as much as I can since I may be a little busy with our newborn. Planning ahead with our curriculum has been very easy its just that Im planning on doing my own thing for Science, History, Art, etc.. and I have no idea where to start planning in those areas! Any advice will be appreciated. I know a lot of you said the amount of time you spend on subjects depends on kiddies interest, but in trying to plan out themes like Oceans, Pirates, etc.. how much time should I plan for? I would really love to have these lessons planned and materials gathered before our baby comes, I just dont know where to start:D
Embassy
Personally, I would figure out how much time you want to spend in each area. Then list all of resources/activities that you will use in chronological order. As you spend time on the subject just go down the list until your time runs out and pick up where you left off the next time you do the subject. You may or may not finish it during the school year and that is fine.
Mrs. Hound
Thank you! I was thinking of doing it that way I was just unsure if I should plan for a week, two weeks.. I just wasn't sure what was typical for most :) I keep trying to remind myself of how simple the WTM suggestions are for K, but then I look at Core Knowledge, etc and Im trying to fit in all of these other things for the "extra" subjects. Just trying to find a way to fit it all in and yet spend enough time on things so that she can really absorb it and hopefully retain some of it. :)
