iluvmy4blessings
I'm going to be teaching in a small private Christian school this year. I used to homeschool and so I still lean heavily on the curriculums I learned about during that time. We are using Abeka for grammar. I need a good writing program though. I'm not sure if I want to go with IEW or Writing Strands. Is Writing Strands still the primary one SWB recommends? Any other ideas?
cbollin
I use and like Writing Strands. My 7th grader will be in book 5 this year because she has completed book 4. I like the feel of the one on one teaching instruction. I'm not sure that same feel would be there in a classroom setting. IEW works well in co-op settings from what I've heard. Does the school have specific goals or standards that are "supposed" to be covered in these years? -crystal
Heather in Neverland
I agree that IEW works well in a group setting and is really flexible. I don't really care for WS.
Mom2boys
We didn't like Writing Strands. My son had a very positive experience this year with IEW used in a co-op class of 30 kids, of varying ages and writing abilities. I think IEW would give you more flexibility to tailor the lessons to your students' abilities. Just my 2 cents.
