CarlaJoy
I am wondering if anyone has any favourite living book suggestions (fiction or non) related to fish/whales/swimming creatures (salt or freshwater). I am looking to supplement our studies year! Suggestion for any age range is fine as I will have K4-Gr. 8 doing this study next year. Thanks :001_smile:
AngelaNYC
How about Pagoo?
Cosmos
The Burgess Seashore Book is wonderful, though it doesn't have a lot on fish and nothing about whales that I recall. But lots about different crustaceans and sea habitats.
CarlaJoy
Thanks! I own Pagoo (and just put it in my stack for our unit!) and I'll put the other on my list! Edited June 15, 2012 by CarlaJoy
Karen in CO
I don't know if it fits what you're doing, but One Tiny Turtle is one of my favorite books about a swimming creature.

MyLittleWonders
We loves the Smithsonian Oceanic Collection of stories like Coral Reef Hideaway. We discovered them at our Aquarium and own a couple; others we have checked out from the library.
WeeBeaks
Owen and Mzee ? We loved that selection, everyone (ages 9, 6 and 4) - although that is a land turtle as I reread and a hippo so not sure if partial water animals qualify. Kfamily
We just recently watched Dolphin Tale (the movie) and my younger dd read every book on this subject I think we had. :001_smile: She loved One Tiny Turtle too. She is a hugh animal lover. Here are a few we own: Animals of Sea and Shore by Illa Podendorf Dolphin's First Day: The Story of the Bottlenose Dolphin by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld Manatee Winter by the same author as above Orca Song by Michael C. Armour Turtle Bay by Saviour Pirotta

4Kiddos
These are wonderful but probably more for littles. Burt Dow, Deep Water Man Swimmy The Underwater Alphabet Book by Palotta Science Nature Guides Freshwater Life Elephants on the Beach by Brady I know we have others but this is all that I can think of for now. Dealea86
This is an old book and hard to get your hands on, but it was one of my favorites as a child: The Whales Go By by Fred Phleger. From a quick search on amazon, it looks like the author wrote several other books about marine life that might be worth looking into. CarlaJoy
Again, thank you all so much. My list of rich, wonderful books to read with our unit is growing by leaps and bounds!
