Angel in the Square--age appropriate?

Hi all,

 

I came across this book title and thought it sounded great for dd until I looked it up and it's in the teen section of our library. dd reads far above grade level and loves historical fiction, so I thought I'd see if any of you have ideas on what might be inappropriate such that the library would have it in the teen section.

I don't remember anything inappropriate, but a 9yo might find the subject matter a bit disturbing. This is actually the first in a 4 book series about communist Russia. They are very good, but I'd advise you to read them first.

I did not pre-read, although I do try to obtain reviews for all the books she reads, but my dd read it at about 9 or 10 and had no issues. She's pretty good about keeping me informed on anything inappropriate. I checked Amazon and they said for 10 and up. Hopefully someone who has read it can help you out further :)

Thanks for the replies. The Amazon reviews look great and I ran across it unintentionally at the library last night, so I think I am going to pre-read it. DD usually doesn't have issues, but our library usually puts books in the teen section for a reason...I just don't know who to ask to find out that reason. :tongue_smilie:

Anyway, thanks for the input. I will try to remember to post again after I've read it.
