Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
I am working on a hat and halfway into the pattern they want me to cast on 3 stitches at the beginning of a row and the end of the row. I have never "cast on" in the middle of a project. How do I? Is it the same as make one or is it a special technique?
LittleIzumi
Several options, mostly backwards loop cast-on or cable cast-on. You can Youtube them better than I can explain them.
GailV
Explanation of many methods of casting on with links to videos. I'd suggest the bottom one, knitting on, as the easiest for a beginner. But I originally learned the backward loop cast-on, and knit for years just using that. This is my favorite site for knitting help, by the way. It's worth bookmarking.
