Guest laurengary
I have a question and I'm not sure who to ask. I have soon to be 8 yr. old boy girl twins who are entering "second" grade. We homeschool. They've finished Lang. Lessons levels 1&2, as well as Writing with Ease Level 1. I purchased Level 2 and have been looking at it. I think my daughter will do okay with the dictation; however, I feel my son will really struggle with it. He has a 2nd grade reading level and is still having trouble writing complete sentences. He hates writing. Should I repeat some of level 1 or just encourage him to push on to Level 2. Is it rocky in the beginning for all first dictators? happyhomemaker
How did he do with the evaluation at the end of WWE 1? If he can copy a sentence fine, then I think he will be able to do WWE 2. It will probably be a struggle at first, but it's a new skill so don't be discouraged. I would consider shortening his dictation sentence to see if that helps. If he has trouble, feel free to repeat it more than the directions say or break it into chunks. If it's causing major frustration for him, maybe you could take a break and do some copywork for a while and then pick it back up again. EJCMom
SWB made a YouTube video of she and her son doing a dictation passage. I would recommend watching that to get a feel of what it should look like. I was very stressed out about the dictation portion before we started. After I watched SWB do it on the video, I felt a lot better about it. You can find a sticky at the top of the Parent's General board that has all of her videos linked.
