Guest lisa37
I am reading "The Well Trained Mind" right now, and have a question. My dd will be in 5th grade next year and has only done formal grammar in public school. Her reading level is high and she enjoys creative writing, but definitely needs work with the mechanics. We have not been doing dictation or copywork up to this point (I wish I had found this book earlier!). Should I start her with Rod and Staff Grammar or do FLL 4? She has not done any outlining or things like that either. I am enjoying "The Well Trained Mind" immensely, but have been a little uncertain of where to start my children when we have not used some of these methods before. Any advice and help will be appreciated! Thanks, Lisa
Mrs Mungo
Personally? I would suggest a year of Junior Analytical Grammar. She could easily do both books in a year.
Guest lisa37
Do you mean Rod and Staff and Junior Analytical Grammar or FLL4 and Junior Analytical Grammar?
Guest lisa37
Never mind...I just realized that there were 2 books in the set! Sorry!!
Cinder
If you do choose to go with R&S you could start at level 5; no need to start lower with a 5th grader. I have on experience with FLL or JAG.

Mrs Mungo
Never mind...I just realized that there were 2 books in the set! Sorry!! Right, there are two Junior AG books. I think it would serve well as catch up. Rod and Staff is pretty intense and dense. I would not want to start there.
