plansrme Posted July 2, 2008 Share Posted July 2, 2008 It's slightly post-Revolution but for me personally was a good antidote to the "all French revoluntionaries are good guys" mentality I'd picked up from repeated viewings of the touring show of Les Miserables. Rhondabee Posted July 2, 2008 Share Posted July 2, 2008 We watched Scarlet Pimpernell, and my 7th grader read the Usborne version of Tale of Two Cities (the author's grand-daughter is the editor). Four children travel back in time to the French Revolution and discover things about themselves in the process. It would be light reading for an eighth grader. I read it aloud to her in third grade. I've enjoyed other books by Sabatini (usually pirate/high energy themed). They all have a bit of romance, but it's always been nice and clean.
