Heather in Neverland
This is for a rising 5th grade boy with a low "boredom" threshold. :D I've already picked "The Golden Goblet" (I think...is it interesting?). Any other ideas? Thanks!
Deece in MN
In addition to Golden Goblet, we read Mara, Daughter of the Nile and The Cat of Bubastes. We liked both of them. Here is a link with a list of books. Maybe you could check out the reviews on Amazon or something to get an idea if they are good. http://www.egyptomania.org/aef/Egyptkdz.html HTH
Magic Wand
Yes, it is very interesting. I read it aloud to my then 8 and 10 yos, last year, and we all loved it. I even loaned it to my dad and he enjoyed it. I also have Cat of Bubastes, but we didn't get around to reading it. We started...I've had more success with the Henty books on audio. We like a little variety - something to read aloud, something for the car. The Henty's are excellent on audio.
